We finally had some sunshine during a Georgia air show for a change. The well attended “Good Neighbor Day” air show took place during a hot Saturday afternoon at this Atlanta inner city airport. The show included an outstanding performance by Gary Ward in his MX-2, and Greg Koontz flew an exciting routine in the Super Decathlon. Larry King showed off the power of the Pitts Model 12 and Team RV provided precision formation flying. Pat Epps put on a fine demonstration in his aerobatic Bonanza. Other performers included Kent Gorton in his Extra 300 and Greg Connel in his Eagle.
A wide range of static display aircraft were on hand including a C-130 and MH-53 along with the pristine Zero and Kate replicas from the Dixie Wing of the Commemorative Air Force. Children in attendance were thrilled to be able to sit in fire engines, police cars as well as general aviation aircraft. This years’ open house was a hit with the Atlanta crowd and I know that I will be looking forward to next years’ event. |
